Solid vocals and fun creativity define The Achordants

After attending the UNC-Chapel Hill Achordants concert on Friday, Nov. 13, I’ve found myself humming concert songs this weekend.  The repertoire of songs included a range of musical genres, from  Owl City’s recent hit “Fireflies” to Frank Sinatra’s classic “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”.  It’s hard to pick a favorite song of the evening, because every soloist approached the mic with his own creative antics.  The attempts at dancing and the witty skits between songs included sexual innuendos, rapping and political jokes as the Achordants figured out how to ‘stimulate’ the economy.  The concert lasted for 2 hours, and left me wanting more than 1 encore.  Although the UNC-Chapel Hill Clef Hangers are the well-known all male singing group on campus, the Achordants give them a run for their money in terms of personality and are just as musically talented.

UNC-Chapel Hill campus workers filmed the concert, and videos on YouTube of the event have not surfaced yet.

Here’s a video from the spring concert of Micah Caldwell, known in the group as “Mocah”,  singing “Ain’t No Sunshine”:

This was Friday’s encore song!
I’ll post links to new videos once they appear on YouTube.

Update: videos are posted on Facebook:

“Catch my Disease”

“Fireflies”
